Learning through Shared Experiences

Starting off in mental health is an exciting time in one's career!  It is also a time that is filled with many challenges and difficulties.  Common struggles include imposter syndrome, difficulty setting boundaries, and managing emotional responses to the work.  Sometimes, we are fortunate enough to have a strong community at our jobs.  Other times, it may feel as if we are barely keeping our head above water between supervision sessions.  Mentorship offers a space for connection to others who are going through the same challenges.  In this vulnerable space, mentors serve as guides, gently nudging clinicians to lean into discomfort, embrace insecurities, and grapple with the complexities of the human experience.

Strength in Community

Let's face it.  Being a therapist can get lonely at times.  This is especially true for the early years in the field, when we have less confidence in our skills and a smaller community.  And, even though we work in mental health, not all work environments foster connection through the challenges we face within the field.  Mentorship offers support and guidance in navigating this phase of our career with compassion and stewardship.  We are quick to offer compassion to our clients, but it isn't always the case that our work environments lend this same lens.  It is important to find a community and feel connected to this community.  We aim to provide this support while also offering young clinicians opportunities to network and build their confidence in navigating this space.

Skill Development

One of the greatest benefits in mentorship is in learning skills from other clinicians -- be it the mentor, invited speakers, or other fellow group members!  This is a great time to gain mastery and try new things. We are proud to offer skill development within a trauma informed lens.  We also encourage group members to connect with their own creative interests and find their own authentic identities within the field.  We primarily offer additional guidance from a somatic experience and relational lens, though we also provide opportunities for practitioners (within the group or outside of the group) to learn about other complimentary or evidence based practices.
